"At My Chamber Door"

"At My Chamber Door" was Allan's first professional fiction sale. It was published in the Winter, 1991 (Vol. 3, #3) issue of On Spec magazine, the magazine of Canadian science fiction. This issue was their special humour issue. Inspired by a noisy upstairs neighbor in a house with paper-thin walls, the story — set in a dystopian future — follows Albert, a man rudely awakened by an inconsiderate neighbor, just as he receives an unexpected visitor.
