Image 1: New York State monument. The large New York State monument is located near the point where the Union forces ended their attack on September 17, 1862. The Visitor's Center is located nearby, to the right of this picture. The Dunker Church is behind and to the right of the photographer.

Image 2: Visitor's Center. The Antietam Visitor's Center is seen in the background of this photograph. The cannons represet the location of the Reserve Artillery of Longstreet's Corps. To the left, in the centre, is the New York monument.

Battlefield, looking east (18K)

Image 3: Battlefield, looking east. This is a view of the battlefield looking east towards the Antietam from the area near the Visitor's Center. The early morning haze was still visible. The observation tower at the sunken road (Bloody Lane) is noticable in the background on the right side of the picture. South Mountain is noticable in the background.

These photographs were taken with a Nikon F-601 autofocus SLR, using a Nikkor 24mm - 50mm f2.8 wide angle zoom lens. The image was captured on Kodak Royal Gold 100 film.
